  • What attracted you to working with Tempus Novo?

To be able to make a positive difference to somebody’s life, by supporting people into a workplace and to help build something sustainable for them and their families.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Seeing someone overcome barriers, gain employment, and build a brighter future is incredibly rewarding. I also value the strong partnerships we have with employers and the prisons we work within. Working collaboratively with organisations that share our commitment to creating opportunities and supporting people to make lasting positive changes is something I find both motivating and inspiring.

Is there a particular moment or success story that stands out for you since joining the team?

Since joining I have experienced many, but seeing what employment means to a serving prisoner is impactful, the emotion and appreciation shown when finding out he had successfully secured a role with the company was truly heart warming. To know that when he is released, and he is already in stable employment and in a position to support his family, it’s great to see.

What have you learned about the power of employment in helping people rebuild their lives?

Some people don’t even get a fair first chance in life, and the way I see it, it could be any one of us in a position where we’re trying to find the courage to even ask for support, so that’s the first big step that we truly appreciate. We’re not only supporting an individual, but also their families- their mums, partners, children, siblings, and hope to help make those positive outcomes real for them.

Five years from now what would success look like for the person you helped today?

I would hope they have built stability for themselves and their family, have the opportunity to progress in the work place, and are able to look back proudly at how far they have come and what they’re capable of achieving. If they are proud, contributing positively to their community, and even inspiring others to make positive changes then the outcome for all involved is a positive one.

  • 1. What attracted you to working with Tempus Novo?

The opportunity - A chance to impact someone's life when placing them into employment. Also, the wider impact it has on the person's family, friends, community. I have worked with similar groups in the past and you have to have a passion for it, as it can be tough. But what makes it all worthwhile is seeing the positive impact it is having when you're supporting someone. It's infectious.

    2. What do you enjoy most about your role?

The variety - I get the opportunity to get stuck into all sorts, wearing many hats is something I am familiar with and I love that I get to do that in my role. In a typical week I can be going out to one of the prisons we work with, meeting people in the community in Cheshire, engaging with an employer and then getting to grips with HR compliance. I love it!

    3. Is there a particular moment or success story that stands out for you since joining the team?

Even though I've not been with the team that long (4 months), I have several success stories that I could mention. My first experience of the Rudding Park event comes to mind. But also placing my first candidate into work via the "fresh start" pilot via the Police and Crime commissioner in Cheshire. Alexis was only with us for 1 week before I introduced him to an employer that was looking for someone with his IT expertise. We placed him in the same week we completed his assessment; it was a truly amazing feeling.

    4. What have you learned about the power of employment in helping people rebuild their lives?

I have mentioned the impact you can see firsthand when supporting someone into SUSTAINABLE employment. Prisons are struggling to cope with the number of prisoners, probation services are struggling with caseloads, targets, staffing. What we're doing seems like the ideal outcome for all. I'm so proud to be part of something so meaningful.

    5. What makes Tempus Novo different from other organisations you have experienced?

The term "going above and beyond" it's easy to say out loud, it's easy to write about it, explain it. But when you can see every team member clearly displaying this day in, day out, you just can't beat it. There may be many companies/charities doing what we do, but for us, we go past the job role to ensure we secure, support and sustain every single person we work with.

    6. Five years from now, what would success look like for the person you helped today?

Someone who can take pride in their achievements. Look back and see how far they've come. They don't need to have progressed via promotion, which would be the normal answer most would give to this question. It's more about the person, their families, communities knowing they've changed for the better and are happy with their lives.
