What attracted you to working with Tempus Novo?
To be able to make a positive difference to somebody’s life, by supporting people into a workplace and to help build something sustainable for them and their families.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Seeing someone overcome barriers, gain employment, and build a brighter future is incredibly rewarding. I also value the strong partnerships we have with employers and the prisons we work within. Working collaboratively with organisations that share our commitment to creating opportunities and supporting people to make lasting positive changes is something I find both motivating and inspiring.
Is there a particular moment or success story that stands out for you since joining the team?
Since joining I have experienced many, but seeing what employment means to a serving prisoner is impactful, the emotion and appreciation shown when finding out he had successfully secured a role with the company was truly heart warming. To know that when he is released, and he is already in stable employment and in a position to support his family, it’s great to see.
What have you learned about the power of employment in helping people rebuild their lives?
Some people don’t even get a fair first chance in life, and the way I see it, it could be any one of us in a position where we’re trying to find the courage to even ask for support, so that’s the first big step that we truly appreciate. We’re not only supporting an individual, but also their families- their mums, partners, children, siblings, and hope to help make those positive outcomes real for them.
Five years from now what would success look like for the person you helped today?
I would hope they have built stability for themselves and their family, have the opportunity to progress in the work place, and are able to look back proudly at how far they have come and what they’re capable of achieving. If they are proud, contributing positively to their community, and even inspiring others to make positive changes then the outcome for all involved is a positive one.
