JOBS FOR LIFE

Jobs for Life: The Lasting Impact of the Tempus Novo Model

At Tempus Novo, success has never simply been about securing employment. It has always been about creating futures, restoring confidence, rebuilding families, and delivering sustainable careers that transform lives for the long term.

Our “Jobs for Life” ethos sits at the heart of everything we do. Through a bespoke personal, and sustainable approach Tempus Novo continues to support individuals leaving prison into meaningful employment that lasts not just weeks or months but years. These long-term outcomes are made possible through the dedication of our staff the trust of our employer partners and a model of support that remains unique within the UK.

Every success story reflects countless hours of commitment from Tempus Novo teams working both inside prisons and alongside employers in the community. From preparing individuals for Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) to supporting them through release and beyond our staff remain alongside participants at every stage of the journey. It is this level of personalised support that makes the Tempus Novo model so unique and difficult to replicate without the right leadership and well trained staff.

The impact can be seen clearly in the journeys of individuals who have not only sustained employment but progressed into leadership and management roles.

From ROTL to Management

Blake Priestley began his journey with GXO while on ROTL from HMP Hatfield. After proving himself through hard work and commitment, he retained his position on release and continued to progress within the business. Within three years Blake completed an apprenticeship and has now secured a management role at GXO Sherburn.

Today Blake speaks openly about how grateful he is for the opportunity he was given and the life-changing impact it has had on him and his family. His journey reflects exactly what sustainable rehabilitation looks like, stable employment, progression, responsibility, and a positive future.

Progression Through Opportunity

Darren Potter has followed a similarly inspiring path. Darren started working nights in the warehouse at GXO Sherburn while on ROTL. Following his release he retained his employment and has continued to flourish within the organisation.

Now undertaking an apprenticeship Darren is currently training to take over his manager’s role in the future. Feedback from colleagues and management consistently highlights how highly valued and respected he is within the team. His progression demonstrates not only personal determination, but the importance of employers willing to invest in people and recognise potential.

Commitment Against the Odds

Leon Walters secured employment with Amazon in Doncaster while on ROTL and successfully retained his role upon release. For a significant period after leaving custody Leon faced a daily two hour commute from his hostel accommodation in order to continue working a reflection of his resilience and commitment to building a new future.

Eventually Amazon supported Leon with a transfer closer to home. Since then, he has completed his sentence, secured his own accommodation and begun enjoying the stability and independence that long term employment can bring. His story is a powerful example of perseverance, support, and sustainable change.

Sustainable Outcomes That Change Lives

These are not isolated examples. Across Tempus Novo there are individuals who have remained in employment for years after release continuing to develop careers, gain qualifications, support families, and contribute positively to society.

What makes these stories so significant is not simply that employment was secured which is a feat in itself, it is that the employment lasted.

This long term success is the result of a model built around relationships, trust, and personalised support. Tempus Novo works closely with employers and participant’s alike, ensuring barriers are addressed, confidence is built, and support continues long after someone leaves custody.

The Tempus Novo approach remains truly unique across the UK. There is no other service that provides the same level of continuity care and long-term commitment to both individuals and employers, the sustainability model is unsurpassed in any other organisation nationally, and arguably globally. The dedication shown daily by Tempus Novo staff ensures participants are not defined by their past, but empowered to build sustainable futures, and our model shows this working time and time again.

As these stories show employment can do far more than provide a wage. It can restore dignity, rebuild lives, strengthen families, and create lasting change for generations to come.

At Tempus Novo, that is what “Jobs for Life” truly means
