HMP Hatfield Governor Mick Mills Receives OBE at Windsor Castle
The Governor of HMP Hatfield, Mick Mills OBE, was formally awarded his Order of the British Empire (OBE) today during a prestigious ceremony at Windsor Castle. The honour recognises his outstanding contribution to prison reform and his unwavering commitment to improving rehabilitation opportunities for offenders through meaningful employment.
Mick Mills who has been a passionate advocate of TN’s work for several years has played a pivotal role in developing innovative partnerships that bridge the gap between custody and community. His collaboration with Tempus Novo and other employment focused organisations has significantly influenced government policy on using work and training as tools for rehabilitation.
This recognition follows earlier coverage of Micks leadership in promoting forward thinking approaches within the prison service. Under his guidance HMP Hatfield has become a National Model of Excellence for Offender Employment and Reintegration, fostering relationships with employers who are willing to offer second chances to individuals leaving custody.
Steve for TN added:
“Mick’s dedication has been instrumental in shaping how government and industry view rehabilitation. His award is a well deserved acknowledgment of the real impact he’s made on both policy and people’s lives.”
The presentation at Windsor Castle marks a proud moment not only for Mick Mills himself but also for Tempus Novo and the wider criminal justice community, a celebration of progress, partnership, and the belief that meaningful employment can be a powerful pathway to change.
