Governor at HMP Hatfield receives prestigious OBE award
Mick Mills Awarded OBE for Services to Criminal Justice and Rehabilitation
01 July 2025 – Leeds, UK
Tempus Novo is delighted to share the news that Mick Mills, a long standing advocate for rehabilitation and reform within the criminal justice system, has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Honours List.
Mick, who began his career as a Prison Officer 33 years ago, received the prestigious recognition for his outstanding contribution to supporting people with convictions and championing second chances. His work, much of it in partnership with organisations like Tempus Novo, has helped transform countless lives by opening pathways to employment and renewed purpose.
Reflecting on the honour, Mick said:
“I was so humbled, proud and honoured to receive the award—but it would never have been possible without the great people I have worked with over the years. That obviously and massively includes all of you at Tempus Novo.
I never expected anything like this when I first started in the Prison Service, and I accept this award not just for myself, but on behalf of the amazing colleagues and partners I've had the privilege of working with. To be able to help change lives for the better by providing hope and opportunity is a true privilege.”
The entire Tempus Novo team extends its warmest congratulations to Mick on this richly deserved honour. His dedication, compassion, and belief in the power of rehabilitation continue to inspire all of us who are committed to building a fairer and more inclusive society.
